MPBSI Unismuh Strengthens Internationalization Through International Seminar Collaboration at UPSI Malaysia
UNISMUH.AC.ID, TANJUNG MALIM, Malaysia – The Master Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (MPBSI) Postgraduate Program of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh) Makassar is implementing collaborative research and community service with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia, on Monday, June 29, 2026. This activity is part of the program's internationalization strategy and the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education through the synergy between lecturers and students with foreign partners.
The collaboration, which takes place at UPSI, aims to expand academic networks, improve research quality, and provide international experience for lecturers and students. Through this activity, MPBSI Unismuh Makassar develops research in the field of Indonesian language and literature education, literacy, digital technology-based learning, and relevant social and cultural studies that address global educational challenges.
Collaborative Research Strengthens Program Internationalization
The Head of the Master Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Postgraduate Program of Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Andi Paida, M.Pd., said that this collaboration is a strategic step to improve the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education and strengthen the program's position at the international level.
"The collaboration in research and community service with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris is part of the commitment of the MPBSI Postgraduate Program of Unismuh Makassar to build a collaborative, innovative, and globally competitive academic culture," said Andi Paida.
He added, "Through this activity, lecturers and students gain valuable international experience and produce academic outputs that contribute to the development of Indonesian language and literature science and education quality.
According to Andi Paida, this collaboration not only strengthens the relationship between Unismuh Makassar and UPSI, but also opens opportunities for further academic cooperation in the fields of research, scientific publications, and curriculum development.
Students Involved in Experiential Learning
In addition to conducting research, the MPBSI delegation also held community service activities involving UPSI academics. The program focuses on strengthening literacy culture, sharing best practices in language learning, academic discussions, and exchanging experiences on adaptive learning innovation in response to technological developments.
Andi Paida explained that the direct involvement of students in all stages of research and community service is a form of experiential learning. Through this approach, students have the opportunity to develop their academic abilities and expand their international networks.

Aiming for Internationally Recognized Academic Outcomes
Through this collaboration, MPBSI Unismuh Makassar aims to produce various academic outputs, including publications in nationally and internationally recognized journals, proceedings of international seminars, development of teaching materials, and recommendations to improve the quality of Indonesian language and literature learning.
In addition to producing scientific publications, community service activities are also expected to provide tangible benefits through knowledge exchange, literacy strengthening, and learning innovation that can be applied in educational environments. This program is part of the effort to expand the impact of the Three Pillars of Higher Education to the international level.
